Sumlang Lake the newest destination in town

The town of Camalig is increasingly becoming popular nowadays because of its Quitinday Hills (which resemble the famous Chocolate Hills) and now another destination has been added to its list of tourist attractions– the tourist-friendly Sumlang Lake located in Barangay Sumlang, which awaits to be seen by tourists.
Arriving at Sumlang Lake, tourists will enjoy watching the Philippines’ most popular active volcano Mt. Mayon. It is said to be the single body of water that can catch the perfect reflection of the famous volcano.
Tour the lake with the help of boatmen. Tourists may cruise the lake on bamboo rafts and witness the rural scenery. Those who love fishing will surely like it since they may catch dalag (mudfish), tilapia, and carp. The place is also perfect for picnic with friends and families, in which they can eat various local delicacies including pinangat, bicol express, and pili dishes. The area is refreshing and good for reflecting on life because of its quiet ambiance.
Recently readied for tourists, instead of just a bamboo raft, there are floating couches in different shapes and designs, which is best for photography sessions. Another new tourism water activity it offered is kayaking.
Adjacent to the lake, are other combo-attractions that tourists can visit while in Camalig. This emerging municipality has a lot of areas unexplored and is being groomed as an eco-adventure and heritage destination. It is also home to the 17th century Church of St. John the Baptist, almost a dozen century old houses, and Quituinan Hill, which was used as location of Japanese base camps during World War 2.
With everything that it has to offer, surely Camalig will attract the heart of many visitors as it poised to be the next big thing as the eco-adventure and heritage destination of Albay.
